(NEXSTAR) – One of the most popular listings on Realtor.com right now will probably be familiar to movie buffs.

A resplendent Victorian home that was used as the exterior of the Sultenfuss mansion in the 1991 movie “My Girl” has hit the market in Bartow, Florida – and it’s since raked in “tens of thousands” views” on Realtor.com, making it the most clicked list of the past week.

The interest didn’t really come as a surprise to homeowner Sam Brunt, who bought the home in 2019, hoping to return it to its former glory as a bed and breakfast once known as the Stanford Inn. .

“This house is so important to our small town,” says Brunt, who says “half a dozen” people stop by for outdoor photography every week. And he usually doesn’t mind, as long as they don’t snoop or run up his porch.

“If I see someone taking a picture from outside, I invite them [up],” he said, adding that he even kept a cardboard copy of the film’s two young stars – Anna Chlumsky and Macaulay Culkin – for everyone to take pictures with.

A former inn, the 7,508-square-foot home has six main suites, seven fireplaces, a commercial kitchen and, of course, the same covered porch featured in the movie. There is also a “hotel-sized” pool in the courtyard as well as two separate carriage houses, totaling an additional 2,000 square feet.

The house is currently on sale for $675,000.

Brunt said he was initially interested in restoring properties such as a motel and breakfast, but the coronavirus pandemic has put his plans in jeopardy.

“I hate to sell it,” he said. “That’s what I wanted to retire. But because of COVID, it changed everything.”

Brunt said he’s done a bit of work on the home since buying it, but has no plans to convert it into a bed and breakfast anymore. In fact, he’s completely changed the equipment and opened a bar in Bartow – Stanford Wines, named after the old Stanford Inn – but he’s still hoping someone might want to finish what he did. he and his wife started.

“I make sure to leave enough meat on the bones for someone to actually finish it, turn it into an Airbnb or a bed and breakfast, or a really, really nice residence,” he says. “I just hope someone comes along and accomplishes what we set out to do.”
