High School Cancels 9/11 Tribute Over Concerns It Could Offend Others

Workers at a Washington state highschool canceled a student-promoted patriotic theme for a soccer sport Friday, which was alleged to function a tribute to the twentieth anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terror assaults, based on emails obtained by KTTH-AM.

“Our management lecturers made this determination and defined it to college students,” Principal Chris Bede wrote to the mom of a pupil at Eastlake Excessive Faculty in Sammamish, Washington, KTTH reported.

“At this level, I used to be pretty upset and confused as to why the theme was modified so I went round asking college students in our management,” one pupil instructed the Jason Rantz Present on KTTH.

“They’d defined that purple, white, and blue was going to be seen as racially insensitive and should have an effect on individuals in a manner that we’ll not perceive and for that cause that we have been to alter our theme.”

Bede and the college district’s Communications Director Shannon Parthemer didn’t go into element about who would take offense to students sporting purple, white and blue.

Parthemer indicated that one workers member was liable for the cancellation and that they “have adopted up with the workers member on determination making processes.”

Emails obtained by KTTH indicated Bede was shocked by the choice to cancel the theme.

“I perceive your perspective and was not looped into this dialog till an hour in the past,” Bede instructed a mother or father.

“I do need to make clear that colleges do not need a proper to ban college students from sporting something so long as it’s not lewd, vulgar, and many others. And the theme of purple, white, and blue positively wouldn’t match into that class.”

Many dad and mom have been offended with the college’s determination to cancel the football sport theme.

“I’d argue that many extra persons are offended by the choice to ban the theme of sporting purple, white and blue,” one mother or father reportedly wrote.
