On January 12, Hideo Kojima teased a new project via Twitter, and it feels like we’ve written exactly this article dozens of times since 2019 – so we decided to look back and follow every teaser and game idea shared by Kojima since then Death Stranding.

Death Stranding was first released on November 8, 2019, was the first game from Kojima Productions. Since then, Hideo Kojima has started working on many projects. Hopefully 2022 will be the year when some of these projects are fully revealed.

In January 2020, Hideo Kojima along with illustrator Yoji Shinkawa have teased many projects. Including how they wanted to make a manga, something like an anime, a movie, and some games: one big game and smaller, multi-episode games. In particular, Kojima said he wanted to do something related to mechanics so that Yoji Shinkawa could design some new machines because there weren’t enough in Death Stranding.

In April 2020, In an interview with Bafta, Kojima teased that he wanted to make a new horror game. He brought that up when discussing the cancellation PT, the Silent Hill plan. with Guillermo del Toro.

In May 2020, Hideo Kojima teased in an interview that one of his future games is in the early planning stages. He also revealed that another project was cancelled.

In the industry, it is quite common for projects to be canceled very early in the development process. Not even widely publicized. This is probably one of the reasons why Death Stranding remains the only game that Kojima Productions has announced (and released) to date.

In June 2020, Hideo Kojima teased that he is working on new concept art. One of the drafts on the photos he shared had the company name “Bridge”. This leads many fans to believe that he is working on Death Stranding next part. However, Kojima Productions has never announced a sequel so far.

Although not technically from Hideo Kojima himself, Another trailer appeared in July 2020. Horror mangaka Junji Ito says that Kojima may be working on a horror game based on a discussion he had with him.

In October 2020, Kojima Productions officially announced that it is working on a new project. Kojima Productions had already started recruiting for this new project at the time. Things get quieter until mid-2021.

In August 2021, after play 12 minutes, Hideo Kojima took inspiration and teased that he also wanted to make a new Adventure game. Kojima has worked on several Adventure games in the past, such as Snatcher, Policenauts and Tokimeki . Memorial Drama Series on Saturn Sega.

On January 6, 2022, Hideo Kojima teased on a Japanese radio show that he was working on a major AAA game and an anime series.

And now, on January 12, Hideo Kojima has revealed a new project on Twitter. He shares a screenshot with a folder that says “new project” in Japanese.

Needless to say, each teaser isn’t necessarily about a different project. But we know for sure that Hideo Kojima is working on some games, an anime series, this new project will be introduced on January 12th, and possibly manga or movie projects.
