Held for Ransom Trailer Tells the Story of Danish Photographer Daniel Rye

ComingSoon is debuting the unique trailer for the upcoming hostage movie Held for Ransom, aka Daniel, primarily based on the true story of Danish photographer Daniel Rye. The film stars Esben Smed (The Kindness of Strangers), Toby Kebbell (Kong: Cranium Island), Sofie Torp, and Anders W. Berthelsen.

“Held for Ransom tells the true story of Danish photojournalist Daniel Rye who was held hostage for 398 days in Syria by the fear group ISIS together with a number of different international nationals together with the American journalist, James Foley,” reads the official synopsis. “The movie follows Daniel’s wrestle to outlive in captivity, his friendship with James, and the nightmare of the Rye household again house in Denmark as they attempt to do the whole lot of their energy to avoid wasting their son. On the heart of this disaster, we discover hostage negotiator, Arthur, who performs a pivotal function in securing Daniel’s launch.”

The film was directed by Niels Arden Oplev and Berthelsen. The screenplay was written by Anders Thomas Jensen primarily based on a novel by Puk Damsgaard. The movie was produced by Morten Kaufmann and Signe Leick Jensen for Toolbox Movie.
