HBO Max Cancels ‘Genera+ion’ After One Season

It’s time to say goodbye to Genera+ion. On Tuesday, HBO Max confirmed that the teenager dramedy had been canceled, in what stands out as the streamer’s first scripted cancellation (per The Hollywood Reporter).

“We won’t be shifting ahead with a second season of Genera+ion. We’re very proud to have partnered with Zelda and Daniel Barnz to faithfully and authentically symbolize LGBTQ youth with such a various group of characters and layered tales,” an HBO Max spokesperson mentioned in an announcement. “We thank them and our splendidly gifted forged for all their arduous work and collaboration.”

Genera+ion adopted a various group of youngsters navigating their sexualities and distinctive coming-of-age experiences in a conservative California city, wrapping up its 16-episode first season in July. Created by then-18-year-old Zelda Barnz, who co-created the present alongside her dads, Daniel and Ben Barnz, Genera+ion was billed as a venture made by Gen Z for Gen Z.
