Harry Potter: Wizards Unite server has officially shut down

As of 12:01 a.m. local time on January 31, Niantic has officially ended support for Harry Potter: Merge of Wizards in all regions.

This decision has been announced back in novemberwhen the Niantic servers will be down and all content will cease to be available to the mobile app in February 2022.

The game was removed from the Apple App Store, Google Play, and Galaxy Store on December 6, preventing users from downloading the game externally using secondary methods. This also comes just weeks after Niantic shut down one of its other games, Catan: World Exploreron November 18th — though that one was never made out of beta.

Following the company’s announcement that the game would end, Niantic held more than a dozen events to close Wizards Unite story when the last player put an end to the Calamity.

“Not all games last forever,” Niantic said in the original announcement. “Our goal with Harry Potter: Merge of Wizards is to bring the magic of the wizarding world to life for millions of players as they step out and explore their neighborhoods. We’ve accomplished it together, delivering a two-year narrative that will be completed soon. ”

Since its launch in June 2019, Wizards Unite recorded 20 million downloads and reported $37 million in revenue as of May 2021, according to Sensor Tower. Although the game only saw a partial success that Pokémon Go is still under review, however, it appears the decision was made in part because it came to a natural conclusion, both in terms of story and financial success.

Now, Wizards Unite The official team went into the dark, with all information on the game’s website replaced with a simple final message was shared on social media.

“We have enjoyed adventuring with you over the past few years,” Wizards Unite team speak. “We’ve helped keep magic hidden in the wizarding world together! Thanks for joining us on this journey. See you out there! ”
