Harrison Ford Stars in First TV Lead Role in Creator’s New Series ‘Ted Lasso’

Veteran movie star Harrison Ford is finally bringing his talents to the small screen. The Indiana Jones the actor is joining the cast of AppleTV + Shrink, which marked the first major role in a television series. He’ll star alongside Jason Segel in the comedy series about therapists navigating their careers as they grapple with significant changes in their personal lives.

It was written by Segel and two of the humorous masterminds behind Apple’s feel-good hit series Ted Lassoco-creator and host Bill Lawrence and star screenwriter Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent hive, assembly). Together, Segel, Lawrence and Goldstein are executive producing the project.

Segel also stars in the series, a grief therapist who throws the code of ethics out the window and begins telling his client exactly what he thinks and feels. However, his new #NoFilter approach to his work begins to have serious effects on both his life and those around him.

Ford will take on the role of Dr. Phil Rhodes, a hardworking “blue-collar shrink” with his own successful practice. A recent Parkinson’s diagnosis forced Phil to reassess his personal and professional legacy. The poignant comedy is a bit aloof for the 79-year-old action hero, but he hasn’t permanently left the root of his whip wound. Ford will appear in Indiana Jones 5 in the next year.
