Based on some early testing, Halo Infinite’s campaign looks much less visually impressive on Xbox Series S than on Xbox Series X.
With the release Halo Infinite With less than a month to go, many fans are excited to experience the latest Halo installment. It’s been over six years since the release of the previous game in the series, and based on what’s been shown so far, Halo Infinite looks set to return to promising form for many fans. However, based on new information, Halo Infinite may not work well on Xbox Series S.
When it was first announced, Xbox Series WILL advertised as a cheaper version of Xbox Series X that could still play next-gen games. For some Series S owners, the loss in picture quality isn’t too noticeable, but for players who value enhanced visuals, it can be quite jarring at times. Now, a digital news platform has reported that Halo Infinite’s single-player campaign, the visuals are pretty much replayed on the Series S.
On Digital Foundry, some employees were offered an enhanced view of the Halo Infinite’s single player campaign, and while performance on Xbox Series X runs at 4k and 60fps is pretty solid, performance on Xbox Series S is far below that by comparison. On the Series S, the resolution is locked to 1080p and 30fps. Even after running the game in performance mode, which increased the fps to 60, the resolution was still locked at 1080p.
Given the nature of Xbox Series S, this downgrade shouldn’t have too much of an impact on the quality of the experience for some players. Although, if the performance on Xbox Series S is much lower than on Xbox Series X, it is possible to play the game on Xbox one could be an even bigger drop in terms of visuals and performance.
Either way, fans won’t have to wait much longer before they can fall asleep Halo Infinite. Many players were impressed with Halo Infinite’s Multiplayer, but it will certainly be interesting to see how the mechanics introduced in that part of the game will apply to the active gameplay in the campaign.
Expectations are pretty high Halo Infinite’s release, but what fans are wondering is the prospect of the game spanning a decade. It was revealed that Halo Infinite will be a 10 year game, similar to games like Fate 2, but the prospect of keeping Halo fans are entertained through a single game for such a long period of time that seems pretty much work. Only time will tell whether 343 Industries is up to the task.
Halo Infinite released December 8 on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Multiplayer beta available now.
