Halo Infinite players unhappy about slow match progress
Halo Infinite‘NS multiplayer open beta launched yesterday, giving players their first taste of what it’s all about. For the most part, the community was satisfied with it. It is certainly less buggy than its two main competitors, Call of Duty: Vanguard and Battlefield 2042. However, complaints about how slow the game is Halo Infinite has flooded the game’s official Reddit.
As marked by this post on cheek from l7arkSpirit, a lot Halo Infinite the player is not satisfied with the progress of the current battle pass. Players report that three or four hours of gameplay equates to only one level in battle. Given that there are 100 levels to work with, the potential of this grind seems overwhelming.
It got worse
If the battle takes place in Halo Infinite being slow because of design oversight, that would be one thing. But as usual, there seems to be more sinister reasons for this evolutionary pattern. Players have the option to purchase boosters to speed up their progression considerably.
The question is whether battle pass is made more slowly to encourage players to reach for their credit cards. Of course, Halo Infinite is a free game and the developer has the right to monetize its product. Although the model currently in use is specifically not forwarding to free players.
It’s not just negative effects from development that can be bought. Currently, clearing progress can only be earned by completing challenges. No experience is given to play the game or work particularly well. Focusing on daily and weekly challenges makes the process of getting through the battle faster, but it’s still pretty slow.
Some players don’t feel as though the current system is rewarding enough. You can dominate the lobby or be at the top of your party and still gain the exact same experience as someone who didn’t manage to take down. Only time will tell if 343 Industries will tweak this system before the game launches in full on December 8.
