Halo Infinite will receive sweeping changes to the battle pass, addressing the biggest concerns fans have.
Halo Infinite’s surprise multiplayer beta launch is one of the biggest deals at launch Introducing Xbox 20th Anniversary. Giving everyone equal access to maps, game modes, and customizations, it’s an important move just days after launching early access Battlefield 2042. However, while the gameplay was well received, fans were highly critical of the Battle Pass’s progression system. Fortunately, 343 Industries is promising big changes to come.
On Twitter, 343 Industries Community Manager John Junyszek detailed the changes the team will be making. Halo Infinite’s Battle Pass progression system. Junyszek said that the team will be making “targeting tweaks” to the system later this week, starting with expanding the “Play 1 Game” challenges so players are consistently rewarded with Battle Pass XP. The lack of regular matching XP is one of the main points of contention, which this change needs to address.
In addition, 343 Industries will make detailed edits to several other challenges in the Halo Infinite, including some removal based on fan feedback. The goal is to make progress through weekly challenges faster and thus more rewards. Present, Halo InfiniteBattle Pass Challenge heavy focus on style-changing random objectives or arbitrarily difficult due to in-game factors. For example, a weekly challenge requires the player to kill a Wraith, but Wraith doesn’t appear in every match, and getting to the right place at the right time to kill one can be frustrating.
Double XP is also being buffed. Rallies will now last an hour instead of 30 minutes like before. Junyszek said that the team wanted the buffs to increase Double XP to help fans get more use out of them in longer matches, and especially in Halo InfiniteBig Team Battle Playlist, which can last a bit longer than the matches in the Quick Play of Everything.
However, there are a few things to keep in mind. First of all, fans will lose progress on existing Challenges when the updated progression system rolls out later this week, including Weekly Challenges. While that might be a bit frustrating, 343 Industries will be giving this week’s Ultimate Challenge Bonus, the Sigil Mark VII Visor, to every player who signs in between November 23 and November 30. Basically, fans are getting some of the changes they requested. while 343 Industries makes up the broader realms, all of that doesn’t detract from any major strides.
