Gucci products increase in searches after ‘House of Gucci’ Movie – WWD

The hype surrounding “House of Gucci“Dripping to shop.

The film, directed by Ridley Scott, depicts a play by Gucci family, has caused a spike in searches related to fashion house and its iconic items. According to data from ShopStyle, a digital shopping platform, searches for “Gucci” have increased 31% on the platform since the film was released over Thanksgiving weekend.

The shopping platform has also seen a huge increase in searches for some of Gucci’s famous products and styles, such as “Gucci Belt” (up 73%), “Gucci handbags” (up 67 percent) and “Gucci Sneakers” (up 50 percent).

ShopStyle also saw a spike in “House of Gucci” apparel-related searches, such as “striped graphic suit,” up 67%. The search involved a variety of striped-patterned clothing that actors Adam Driver, Al Pacino, Jared Leto and others wore in the film when they took on their roles as members of the Gucci family. The actors’ clothes are not Gucci, but Custom designed by Ermenegildo Zegna.

Other searches related to movie costume includes “Polka Dot Dress” – up 25% – referring to a brown and white polka dot dress worn by Lady Gaga in the film as Patrizia Reggiani.

ShopStyle’s data matches A similar report was released last week by Lovethesales.com, One fashion e-commerce aggregator, found that searches for Gucci bags increased 257% from the previous week. Searches for Gucci clothing also increased by 73%, while searches for Gucci slides increased by 75%.

“House of Gucci” provides the drama of the real-life events leading up to the death of Maurizio Gucci, played by Driver, the last person of the Gucci family to run the business in the 1990s. murdered by an assassin by his ex-wife, Reggiani, in 1995. Reggiani was convicted of this crime and served 16 years in prison.
