20-time Grand Slam Champion Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal both ended the season early due to their injuries. While Rafa received his leg injury at Expansion Solutions in 2021, Federer had his season ended in Wimbledon Championship 2021, their favorite arena to play.
With Novak Djokovic won 3 Slams in 2021, he’s also on par with Nadal and Federer and currently the trio all have over 20 Grand Slams. Djokovic had a chance to reach 21 Slams but failed in the final of US Open 2021 has now made the 2022 season very interesting in the race for its first 21st Slam title.
While Novak will arrive after a long season, Nadal is expected to be fully fit when he is on the Rod Laver Arena for 2022 Australian Open. Roger has confirmed that his recovery will take time and he would be surprised if he could play at Wimbledon next year.
Former British No. 1 Greg Rusedski nevertheless gave an insight into what could be the plans in Federer and Nadal’s camp for next season. Speaking to Express Sport, Greg said, “Yes, I think Roger is focused on Wimbledon. I don’t think he really believes he can win in Paris or that he can win the Australia or US Open. Wimbledon as we saw it in ’19, he had a few points in the match against Novak.
“This year he hasn’t played particularly well at Wimbledon and is still in the quarterfinals so if he’s healthy, I think that’s where he believes he still has a chance to win and he wants to win. get the top titles, he just does ‘ I don’t want to give numbers so for Roger, that’s probably the goal,” added Rusedski.
“For Rafael Nadal, it’s the French Open,” said Rusedski.

He won the French Open 13 times, but Nadal failed in the semi-finals Expansion Solutions in 2021 this is only his 3rd loss at a Grand Slam since he had his first in the competition at French Open 2005 where he also became the second man after Mats Wilander to win the Grand Slam in their first attempt.
“For Rafa, it was the French Open. That’s where he thinks he can get the number 21 because Djokovic is really the ultimate tennis player on hard courts.” Rusedski said picking Nadal’s favorite Slam, where he could become a 21st Grand Slam champion.
Nadal could have an outside chance at the Australian Open 2022 if Djokovic does not play the tournament due to his opponent being vaccinated against Covid-19 that the Australian Open is taking place. However, with the increase of Alexander Zverev, Daniil Medvedev and other young players, the Spaniard’s best chance is still Roland Garros.
