GOP Rep. Buddy Carter Hopes Everyone Will Get Vaccinated

Represent Buddy Carter (R-GA), whose background in pharmaceuticals, encouraged people to get a Covid-19 vaccine in a Sunday interview with CNN’s Pamela Brown.

“I encourage everyone to get vaccinated. I think it’s safe and effective,” he said. “As a healthcare professional, I expect people to do that. But I’m not going to block our First Amendment rights to make sure that happens. “

He added, “We have to show that it is safe and effective, that I would rather have a vaccine than a virus, and that we need people to get vaccinated.”

Carter commented on President Joe BidenClaims that vaccine misinformation on social media is “Killing,” agreed that the information “needs to be clarified”, but not in a way that “orders these platforms what is misinformation and what is misinformation.”

“That’s what you get in the First Amendment and curtail freedom of speech,” Carter said. “That’s what the Biden administration is trying to do, which they shouldn’t be trying to do. What is misinformation? It is in the eyes of the handler there. “

Asked by Brown if he was sending mixed messages while attending a GOP event calling for Dr. Anthony Faucice besides legislators encouraging people not to get vaccinated.

“Well, you want to talk about misinformation. Please keep in mind that the Vice President [Kamala] Harris who said she would never take a vaccine that originated under the Trump administration,” he replied.

After being pressed by Brown to respond to specific facts, Carter replied that while he disagreed with Representative. Marjorie Taylor Greene(R-GA)’s view on vaccines, “she has every right to her opinion.”

Brown later attempted to address claims that the 2020 election had been stolen, but Carter said her comparison of the reliability of information sources from vaccines to the election is “apple and orange.”

“There is a danger that you will come up with bananas,” he said, adding, “From your point of view, look, I always say that the problem with voter certification is changes in states. This, in the state of Georgia and Arizona and Michigan was created by the executive branch and the judicial branch and not by the legislative branch that they should have been created. “
