Good Samaritan with Weapon Saver Pinned by Suspect

After a grand jury determined Kyle Rittenhouse acted in self-defence when he shot dead three men, including two of them, in Kenosha, Wisconsin, during a riot in August 2020, It would be helpful to know of another instance where the use of deadly force is authorized: to defend others.
In November 2016, Deputy Dean of the Bardes Department of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at Florida engaged in a high-speed chase on I-75 with suspect Edward Strother, WFTX-TV reported.
Strother narrowly passed a highway crash scene that left Bardes missing, which the officer believed was intentional.
The chase ended on a ramp near Fort Myers.

That’s when the good Samaritan Ashad Russell arrived at the scene.
He had a license to carry the mark.
Russell ordered Strother to leave Bardes several times, but the attacker did not obey.
Then Russell shot and killed Strother.
The Florida State Attorney’s Office reviewed the circumstances and identify Russell “is justified in the use of deadly force when he reasonably believes that the use of such force is necessary to prevent imminent death or great physical harm to the Deputy.” dean of Bardes or to prevent the impending felony of rape against Deputy Bardes.
“Our agency review has closed and this office will take no further action based on the facts presented by this investigation and applicable law.”
Then-Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott praised Russell’s actions that day in a declare On Facebook.
“I thank the hero who recognized the impending threat, rushed to the aid of Deputy Bardes, and ultimately stopped the threat,” Scott said.
“In this day and age where race is the near-immediate focus of the media and other experts in police cases,” he added, “the fact that this hero happens to be a person of color who prevented another person of color from further harming or killing a white police officer; thereby reminding us that black lives matter, blue lives matter, and indeed all lives matter.”
Action in Self defence and advocating for others are two cases where, under appropriate circumstances, the use of deadly force is justifiable.
