GO Transit is warning of cancellations this week due to staff illness

GO Transit is warning passengers that some train journeys will be canceled this week due to staff illnesses.

A post on the GO Transit website advises customers to “plan ahead and give yourself the extra time”.

Passengers should check the service updates page as well as departure boards at stations before travelling, the post said.

GO Transit workers vote 93 percent to go on strike if no agreement is reached

GO Transit’s website states that the Oshawa GO 07:55 – Union Station 08:55 and the Kitchener GO 07:15 – Union Station 08:58 train were canceled on Monday.

It’s not clear what other trips may be canceled this week.

Meanwhile, the union, which represents 2,200 GO Transit bus operators, station attendants, factory and fleet maintenance workers, road safety officers and office workers, said early Monday that its members voted 93 percent in favor of a strike if it is necessary.

The Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1587 said its members had been working under an expired contract since June 1.

No date has been released for a possible strike.
