Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed Multiplayer Features 4v1 Dead By Daylight style gameplay

IllFonic, the developer behind Predator: Hunting Grounds and Friday the 13th, has officially unveiled Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed along with a slick announcement trailer. The most interesting is the Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed Multiplayeran asymmetric 4v1 mode in the same vein as Dead by Daylight.

According to the announcement trailer’s official description, players will join other Ghostbusters to pursue the Ghost, or instead choose to play as Ghost and smother innocent civilians and those pesky Ghostbusters:

“As a Ghostbuster, join forces with other Ghostbusters to hunt and capture ghosts in museums, prisons, hotels and more, and capture the ghosts before they can fully invade the area.

Or hide, sneak, surprise, scare and of course Ghostbusters and civilians until everything is completely spooky. Use tricks, subterfuge, and ectoplasm to gain the upper hand and drive the Ghostbusters out.”

The Ghost is responsible for scaring all civilians and building a global haunted display while the Ghostbusters try to rescue them and destroy rifts from which the Ghost can spawn. Each Ghost will have unique abilities that cost a resource called Ectoplasm, like owning objects and immobilizing enemies.

While the characters featured in the trailer will be new, players will continue to be stationed at the legendary firehouse and supported by Ray Stantz (Dan Aykroyd) and Winston Zeddemore (Ernie Hudson) as NPCs. Story-wise, the game is a direct sequel to Ghostbusters: Afterlife, with both Ray and Winston reopening the Ghostbusters store.

Since Illfonic has experience with the 4v1 multiplayer game Predator: Hunting Grounds, albeit with rather mixed results, the developers should be able to bring their expertise to this Ghostbusters adaptation.

Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed Multiplayer promises crossplay support across all platform versions including PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC via the Epic Games Store. It is currently slated for a Q4 2022 release.

Also, Gran Turismo 7 fans are defying the game’s microtransactions and excessive grind by using an automatic credit farming script, and Godfall is coming to Xbox after being exclusive to the PlayStation console.
