GameStop employees talk about low wages, long hours

With the holidays approaching and consumer demand increasing, GameStop employees share stories of bad work situations.

Complaints by GameStop employees

GameStop remains the physical go-to place for many people trying to buy games and consoles, although it has shifted to a more order-focused online store. Of course, this includes Black Friday sale and constantly trying to add on the latest consoles.

What many people may not know, however, is that many of the employees who worked through the terrible Black Friday also worked the previous Thanksgiving Day, like GameStop did not give its employees a holiday. This is just the latest in a long line of grievances that GameStop employees have with the chain and are increasingly frustrating many.

See, GameStop never had the best reputation as a place to work, and that reputation is only getting worse now. Not long ago, GameStop stock whirled around the toilet before a flurry of online investors pushed it back high in a memorable narrative. Still, while that skyrocketing share price meant a lot to investors, that meager sum improved the lives of the retail workers who are the lifeblood of GameStop. Their complaints are often shared on the GameStop subsite and Re-supplying PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles, those complaints only get more.

When the console arrived and was purchased, the staff was under tremendous and unusual pressure to constantly tell everyone that they couldn’t get their hands on such a console. Worse yet, the running time is very long, especially around this season, and the management is uncompromising. But perhaps worst of all is the compensation, as although money is pumped into the company through its stock in an unprecedented way, the pay freeze is still applied to an employee’s rank and profile. Even as big chains like Target raise wages, GameStop employees are stuck at $9 an hour. GameStop CEO recently left after just seven monthsand that makes her a good fit for many GameStop retail employees.

These complaints also don’t come from inattentive or lazy workers, as passion for video games is often translated into dedication to the people who work in GameStop, much to the surprise of many. . At least a GameStop employee even chased a thief.

Sadly, this is just one of many examples this year of companies in the video game industry being cruel to their employees, and it probably won’t be the last. . Maybe GameStop should consider retaining its employees instead participate in NFTs.
