Fortnite Adds New Air Jordan Cosmetics
Epic Games has been keen to provide players with a variety of choices inside FortniteGame store of related cosmetics. Between games, movies, and major clothing brands, players can choose their favorite avatars to best represent themselves as they drop into The Island round after round. Latest crossover branding coming to the game courtesy of Nike Air Jordan line to celebrate the third release of the popular Air Jordan 11 Cool Gray sneakers.
The Cool Gray shoe was originally released in 2001 as the latest colorway then available for the popular Jordan 11 shoe line starting in 1995. Considered to be one of the most popular Jordan releases. 11, it will be carried by Michael Jordan briefly played against the Washington Wizards from 2001 to 2003. Nike re-released the Cool Grays in 2010 after years of requests from consumers while the latest release celebrates the shoe’s 20th anniversary.
Fortnite is taking the celebration a step further with a new set of Air Jordan gear available for players to outfit their avatars with. The two player skins are named Hangtime and Swish skins with the Jordan logo front and center on most of the skins available. Additionally, the player’s avatar will also be decked out with a pair of Air Jordan 11 Cool Grays while the rest of the Hangtime and Swish outfits will come in three colors.
A new paint sprayer, emoji, and backing glue will also be available.
Cool gray Hangtime and Swish sets will be available for purchase in Fortnite Item Store as part of the Cool Gray pack. Paint spray and two alternate skin colors will be available to earn in the new Jumpman Zone, credited to Paradox Buildcreators’ Enigma and Dummblond by Epic. The area has six portals for players to complete scavenger hunts, compete in tough challenges for extra credits, and learn about the history of the Air Jordan and Cool Gray 11s.
As for cross-dressing, there are few bigger brands in the sportswear and streetwear world like Air Jordan. This line is the foundation of Nike, although some consumers might argue that the Air Jordan brand is now bigger than the parent company itself.
It also marks the latest in an apparently beneficial relationship between Epic Games and Nike since Firstly Fortnite cooperation in 2019. This partnership has seen iconic Air Jordan 1s, along with a variety of other cosmetics, made available to give player avatars some extra flash while in-game. . If Cool Gray is popular enough, players shouldn’t be surprised to see another Nike crossover at some point.
Fortnite currently available on Mac, Mobile, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
