Former Dragon Age Developer Reveals New Game At Game Awards

Former BioWare General Manager Aaryn Flynn announced that Improved World Co., Ltd. will be unveiling its upcoming MMORPG project at the Game Awards Ceremony.
Ex-BioWare General Manager Aaryn Flynn left the company in 2017. The studio’s 17-year veteran left the company a few months after the lackluster debut of the studio. Mass Effect: Andromeda, resigned to support afterward-Block effect Casey HudsonDirector.
However, Flynn’s resignation from BioWare is not the end of his career, as he joined Improbable Worlds Limited’s Edmonton Studio as General Manager in 2018. Now, Flynn and the team his is preparing to show the gaming public how they have worked since he departed from BioWare. He announced on Twitter that he could not improve his intention to reveal its new title in Game Award on December 9th.
Again, very few people outside the company know much about what Flynn and his small team have been working on over the past few years. What little is known to the public is that Improbable’s upcoming game is an online RPG that uses the Unreal Engine 4 and the company’s proprietary SpatialOS technology. Very little else has been confirmed publicly, other than that the company has given Flynn a lot of creative control on its own. Fortunately, gamers only have to wait until Game Award in a few days to find out.
For those who haven’t heard of it, SpatialOS is a cloud-based technology designed to enable the creation of phenomenally large multiplayer environments with a huge number of players on a single server. Flynn discussed the issue a bit in an interview with the UK-based PC Games Insider publication in 2019. He explained that scale is a necessary factor in the game’s development, as the studio sees this as an opportunity to test the boundaries of SpatialOS technology. However, Flynn stresses that Edmonton can improve beyond just numbers. Instead, the team focused on seeing how they could use the technology to craft an ideal RPG experience.
“We often talk about this and say that our favorite RPGs are the ones that really hold the power,” Flynn said in the 2019 interview, “you can say what you want to say. , go where you want to go, make the choices you want to make, and really get back into the role. ” He went on to explain that he hopes the technology will allow players to have a great degree of freedom while allowing players to interact and form meaningful relationships with each other. That said, it looks like Flynn hopes the new game will bring back the spirit of board role-playing game inspired the modern RPG genre.
This is further proven by Flynn talks about a “renaissance” RPG. He sees the upcoming game as a way to create an RPG that re-focuses on the core aspect of role-playing, which he believes has dwindled in recent years. Of course, many developers put high hopes on big projects, especially when using new technology. The only question is whether Flynn’s game can meet those lofty goals.
Again, players know very little about Improbable’s new game other than the technology involved. Fortunately, that will change later revealed during The Game Awards on Thursday. Hopefully it gives fans reason to feel optimistic about Improbable’s ambitious MMO.
