Former Boston Red Sox Player David “Big Papi” Ortiz & Wife Tiffany Announce Divorce, Ending 25 Years Of Marriage

Former Boston Red Sox player David “Big Papi” Ortiz and his wife of 25 years, Tiffany, have announced their divorce.

Tiffany Ortiz took to Instagram to inform her followers that their chapter together was over. Her post read:

“For the past 25 years, David and I have shared a beautiful adventure in love and partnership.”

She continued:

“We have decided to enter a new phase in life together, not as a couple, but as friends and companions to our wonderful children. ”

The couple started dating in 1996, just a year before that David Ortiz started playing for the Minnesota Twins. They then got married in 2002.

Although the marriage lasted for two decades, they had been troubled in the past. David filed for divorce in 2013, telling MLB.com:

“There are certain situations in life that go on over a period of time and at some point they just don’t work anymore and you have to move on. I am continuing. She is continuing. Hope that people respect that. ”

After a year apart, they were able to save their marriage. At that time, Tiffany speak:

“We were separated for a while. We did, but we miss each other terribly.”

Tiffany and David have two children together: a son, D’Angelo17 years old and a daughter, Alexandra, 20. David has a daughter, 25 years old Jessica Ortiz from a previous relationship.
