For His Fall 2022 Collection for Men Hed Mayner Had Protection in Mind – WWD

Hed Mayner always had protection in mind when he created his fall collection, chockablock with oversized coats, sharp shoulders, and loads of eye-catching outerwear. Designer said “clothes have a very strong attitude.”

It’s correct. Garments with multiple pockets, such as cargo pants or trenchcoats, are designed to be tucked inside. Pair them with softer, more dreamy outfits, such as XXL quilted scarves in pre-washed pastel Liberty floral print.

“We wash them to give them an aged look, like an item you’ve collected or found somewhere,” says Mayner.

Also in this circuit are knit sweaters with a destroyed collar.

Mayner used a variety of fabrics, including washed denim, faux leather and knitted fabric. Chalk color – new to fashion – is successfully paired with more earthy tones such as dark gray and brown.

His fashion videos were shot in the streamlined space of the Center National de la Danse, in the Paris suburb of Pantin. “It emphasizes the silhouette and gives a certain intimacy to tell the story of the collection,” says the designer.
