Florida Mayhem welcomes back Checkmate as DPS

As one of many Overwatch League groups aiming for a whole shakeup of their roster going into the 2022 season, the Florida Mayhem has continued the rebuild by welcoming again former participant Baek “Checkmate” Seung-hun. The crew dropped him earlier this month alongside five other players.

The signing is one in all few pickups the Mayhem has made within the offseason. Along with re-signing DPS Kim “Yaki” Jun-ki, they introduced the hiring of new head coach Jordan “Gunba” Graham and support Majed “SirMajed” Alrashied.

Though he first joined the crew as a rookie DPS, Checkmate grew to become the crew’s most important tank taking on Son “OGE” Min-seok’s function previous to being launched. This was carried out throughout the center of the season within the Summer season Showdown event qualifiers. 

The previous DPS-turned-main-tank is again on DPS and is trying to showcase why he was initially introduced onto the crew in that function.

Checkmate’s becoming a member of is part of an ongoing overhaul course of for the Florida Mayhem. Final week, Florida’s earlier head coach Kim “KuKi” Dae-kuk parted ways with the crew, later being changed by Gunba. Each Gunba and Checkmate be part of the one remaining member from the 2021 roster, Kim “Yaki” Jun-ki, and new rent SirMajed.
