Firefighters investigating Norfolk County home fire that sent people to hospital

The province’s Office of Fire Police (OFM) is investigating a fire over the weekend in Norfolk County that left one person hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). .

Investigators said a pair of OPP officers found the individual on the second floor of a fully submerged home fire located on Sylvia Street in Waterford on Saturday afternoon.

“One of the occupants of the home was being treated by paramedics when officers were informed that a second person was still inside the home,” Acts Sergeant. Ed Sanchuk said in a social media post on Tuesday.

“The staff entered the home and were located on the second floor, who were later rescued and taken out.”

That person was eventually airlifted from a local hospital to Toronto.

Volunteer firefighters were able to put out the blaze.
