A former Apple worker who raised issues in regards to the firm’s therapy of staff reportedly filed a criticism with the Nationwide Labor Relations Board on Tuesday, accusing the iPhone maker of retaliation.
Janneke Parrish, a product supervisor for Apple Maps, alleged in a criticism to the NLRB that she was fired in October for her position a motion to alter the corporate’s tradition, based on a report Tuesday from The Washington Post. Parrish reportedly helped launch #AppleToo, an worker group that on the firm.
Apple has confronted a wave of worker activism in latest months. In July, staff started circulating an inner petition pressing executives for more flexible working conditions as the corporate started laying out return-to-work insurance policies. In September, the #AppleToo group published an open letter to CEO Tim Cook and the corporate’s senior management, calling on the tech large to enhance its therapy of staff and to “fulfill its promise of inclusion, variety and fairness.”
The NLRB isfiled by Apple staff alleging unfair labor practices by the corporate, based on filings on the company’s web site. One criticism, filed on Aug. 26, pertains to accusations of retaliation, self-discipline and discharge, whereas one other, filed on Sept. 1, alleges threats and guarantees of advantages.
In an interview with The New York Times, Parrish stated she believes “Apple retaliated towards me for talking out.” She added that she needed to make it clear to the corporate that “retaliating towards staff for talking out at what they see as injustice just isn’t an appropriate response.”
Apple did not instantly reply to a request for remark. The corporate has stated up to now that it is “deeply dedicated to creating and sustaining a constructive and inclusive office.”
