Final Fantasy 14 fans make video praising Endwalker’s deleted skills

A Final Fantasy 14 fan made a short video tribute to the removal of spells and abilities in favor of new spells and abilities coming to Endwalker.

With Final Fantasy 14 new expansion release this week, all playable jobs are receiving Brand new spells and abilities to play with Endwalker. However, some old abilities have been removed to make room for new ones, and Redditor Thefleetingdream made a short video tribute to the actions and workflow animations that will be removed in 6.0.

Endwalker how many jobs are changing in Final Fantasy 14 play, with some more significant changes than others. While every job gets some new abilities, only about half of them are losing some old skills.

The video posted by Thefleetingdream shows all skills, abilities and spells removed and showcases their animation in one final hurdle. They made this video as a living chronicle of the possibilities, ever since Endwalker’s launching this week, none of these abilities or animations will be available in the game.

Character classes like White Mage and Samurai have only one or two skills removed, mainly because these skills have become obsolete or use mechanics that have been removed from the game, such as buffs. Open Eyes of Samurai when hit while Third Eye is active. Others, like the Black Mage, Astrologian, Monk, and Dragoon are having stance-like abilities baked into the class as passive traits. However, Summoner is getting a complete overhaul in Final Fantasy 14, which means that almost a dozen possibilities have been eliminated alone.

This is not the first time Final Fantasy 14 removed job actions from the game – every expansion pack sees changes to the combat system, which usually includes the removal of skills. Players are not sad to see many of these skills disappear, especially battle statuses like FF14 Black Mage’s Enochian and Dragoon’s Blood of the Dragon because it’s meant to be one less thing to keep an eye on during busy boss battles. Final Fantasy 14 pretty good at maintaining work balance, so these changes are welcome to keep classes interesting, fresh and competitive.

That said, some players are sad to see some of this work action disappear; especially the animations. Final Fantasy 14’s Select Actions has previously seen some great and iconic animations removed from the game, such as FF14 Dark Knight’s Power Slash, Dragoon’s Ring of Thorns, or Bard’s Wide Volley. While it’s sad to see the blue Blood of the Dragon aura or the Ninja’s Shadow Fang animation being added to the ever-evolving graveyard, it’s possible Final Fantasy 14 maybe bring them back some day in the future.
