Eye makeup with colorful colors appeared in the recent winter 2021 haute couture season.
For Armani Privé Couture, Linda Cantello sweeps the models’ eyelids in eggshell blue.
“He. Armani wanted something playful and upbeat, so the idea of eyeshadow was both a classic haute couture fit but also a chic use of pastels and away from eye makeup. bold everywhere,” says international makeup artist Giorgio Armani Beauty. “Blue was Mr. Armani’s idea, and it confused me when he said he wanted ‘the blue of Italian sugar bags.’ Luckily I have an Italian assistant so that helped a lot.”
To conjure up ideas for sought-after beauty Alexis MabilleDuring the couture showcase, the designer gifted makeup artist Lloyd Simmonds with clothes and designs for videos and photos.
“My first reaction was that I needed to create something graphic and crisp to unify the different geometries of the garment,” says Simmonds. “Secondly, I needed to use color in a simple way to highlight each girl against a brightly colored background.
“I thought it would be nice to use eyeliner to tell the story,” Simmonds continued. “So I created a classic eyeliner shape, but instead of black, I used two different, contrasting colors to create that classic winged eyeliner. Each girl has her own color to match her collection. I wanted to keep it simple, modern and easy to understand, yet impactful, to accentuate the collection’s splendid shapes. “
