Explaining the impact Erisa Genshin Skin Lookalike could have in Fortnite

Fortnite just added a new Erisa skin, with one of the variants possibly looking like Venti from The Genshin effectthis is what happened.

Who is Erica in Fortnite or Genshin Impact?

Erisa is a brand new skin in Fortnite chapter 3 season 2. Erisa is not a The Genshin effect character. However, one of the sub-variants of Erisa’s skin, Silvan Style, did wonder fans if it was inspired by Venti, an iconic character in The Genshin effect see him as Anemo Archon.

Was the Erisa Silvan Style skin in Fortnite inspired by Genshin Impact and Venti?

It’s very unlikely that Erisa was directly inspired by The Genshin effect, for many reasons. Thanks to a huge marketing campaign especially in North America, The Genshin effect is one of the most popular and most played anime style game since its release on September 28, 2020. Many members of The Genshin effect The British community discovered anime stylized games and gacha games with The Genshin effect. So they don’t know that The Genshin effect itself has been inspired by many classics and stereotypes.

It is important to know that The Genshin effect is a gacha game. Meaning that each character has a stereotypical character design and personality, and with a seiyuu (Japanese voice actress) who has been shaped for the character. The gacha game earns revenue through players attempting to pull characters in a lottery, the so-called gacha banner. So the majority of gacha games based on their characters are based on already popular characters and stereotypes.

Is Erisa a Venti scammer?

In other words, The Genshin effect did not “invent” character types like Venti’s or any other, and only drew inspiration from other anime and stereotypes. The simple Erisa Silva Style skin is inspired by similar stereotypes, most notably the jungle elves in popular culture. That’s why they look a bit similar and share the same color palette. Erisa Silva style skin does not plagiarize Venti in The Genshin effect.
