Exclusive, unreleased footage of David Bowie in the Moonage Daydream trailer

Keep an eye on your electrical eye Moontime Daydream Trailer featuring exclusive footage of the late, great David Bowie. Brett Morgen’s new documentary chronicles the artist’s career through the music industry with a distinct Bowie flair, as seen in the new trailer.
Appropriately produced by Neon – the color palette should actually only be called “glowing” –Moontime Daydream combines old concert material with unheard tapes, new interviews and the necessary hype about the greatness of the musician. This one looks more like a collage of beautiful videos than a choppy documentary from PBS. But that’s exactly what you want from an abstract musician, isn’t it? Hang it in the MOMA!
“All people, no matter who they are, wish they had appreciated life more,” Bowie says in the trailer. “It’s what you do in life that matters, not how much time you have or what you would have liked to do. Life is fantastic.”
Footage of Bowie on stage plays as Bowie delivers his monologue. He dons his iconic red leather suit, showers himself in confetti, grimaces and of course dances ’til you drop. The trailer is all Bowie. He’s pretty much all we see, aside from some instruments and crowds awaiting his arrival.
“Who is he?” another narrator asks. “What is he? Where is he from? Is he a creature of an alien power? Is he a weirdo? Is he dangerous? Is he smart? Is he stupid? Nice to his parents? Real? Fake? Crazy? Sensible? Man? Woman? Robot? What is this?”
That’s the question Moontime Daydream tries to answer. Brett Morgen is tackling the film after working on profile documentaries similar to Cobain: Mounting from stern, janeand The child stays in the picture. While teasing the upcoming documentary at CinemaCon, Morgen said most of the film is made up of thousands of hours of rare footage from performances.
“Bowie can’t be defined, he can be experienced,” Morgen told the CinemaCon crowd. “That’s why we made it Moontime Daydreamto a unique cinematic experience.”
Moontime Daydream has released a fall premiere (expect it in IMAX!), featuring diversity It will reportedly debut on HBO and HBO Max in Spring 2023.
