EVO has a new General Manager

EVO announced that Rick ‘TheHadou’ Thiher will join the iconic round as its newest general manager.
Few names in the competitive fighting game series have become as iconic in the gaming industry as the Evolution Championship Series, or EVO for short. The 25-year-old fighting game circuit has become one of the most recognizable names in e-sports, hosting annual tournaments featuring a number of games from Street fighter arrive Super Smash Bros and more. With The popular league series is looking to make a comeback to in-person events after hosting one virtual event this year and none in 2020, EVO recently announced a major change of management in 2022.
Since its origin is a circuit fighting game in the region for Street fighter By the late 1990s, EVO had grown into a major event attracting professional gamers from all over the world who wanted to compete at the highest level. EVO often rotates games with each year’s entry and has featured some of the most popular modern fighting games like Street Fighter and Tekken and even expand to more niche titles like Skullgirls and BlazBlue. Now, the prominent fighting game league has announced that Rick “TheHadou” Thiher, formerly of Twitch and Red Bull, has joined as EVO’s newest general manager.
Thiher has previously worked for both Twitch and Red Bull and is currently the Event Director for the community-based Combo Breaker event series, a role he will retain after joining EVO. The company’s new general manager expressed optimism towards The future of EVO, expressed his personal desire to achieve the “idyllic vision” that many potential EVO fans have. In his own announcement, Thiher attempted to bring the circuit of competition to “uncharted audiences” and help cement the league’s legacy for years to come.
Thiher’s addition to EVO’s management comes shortly after one of the biggest changes in the history of the tournament series like Sony acquires level competition series in March 2021. Sony’s acquisition comes after a controversial 2020 for the popular professional circuit, with EVO being forced to cancel its 2020 tournament due to the ongoing pandemic and serious allegations about sexual misconduct was hit on former EVO president Joey Cuellar.
EVO’s return to live events will likely be missing one of the round’s most popular games Super Smash Bros. for its 2022 Las Vegas event. Fans were skeptical about the franchise’s future with EVO after it was acquired by one of its main competitors in Sony and Nintendo recently partnered with Panda Global to start an officially licensed tournament round for Super Smash Bros.. Not even Smash With attendance, EVO’s return to live events looks to be on track with Thiher and Sony at the top and the iconic tournament round that will build on its success going forward.
