The highly anticipated match started but was halted shortly after kickoff due to a bug investigation, which led to an offer of Chronobreak to Liquid, which they declined. The match continued, and the incident immediately followed was a solo kill from EG Impact’s top laner.

On the other side, Liquid Academy bot laner Yeon got off to a very strong start against Aphelios, going 4/1/1 in 15 minutes after winning the teamfight at the Rift Herald. However, the advantage wasn’t enough to snowball the lead and EG used effective map movement to minimize damage. Both teams fought closely throughout the game and continued to trade kills and goals throughout the mid-game.

That prospect lasted until EG’s new support Vulcan found a great interaction with Rakan, which resulted in them being able to defeat Liquid and take Ocean Soul, bringing the game back to normal. Teams fight for mid-range preference as auto skills and attacks are launched to deal little damage to both sides.

The game was then presented with one final Elder Dragon teamfight as EG’s rookie mid laner pushed Corki to the Nexus, barely able to land a final hit on the Nexus, as EG Impact’s top laner attempted to. Escape from enemy bases and flanks. Liquid. But a kill through the wall from EG AD put Danny on Corejj for EG to do a second push towards the Nexus, this time to the end of the game.

The match was a great intro to what LCS viewers can expect from the league’s upper echelons. With both teams playing with most of their intended starting lineups, the highlight of day two did not disappoint as both teams showed their strength in 2022.

Liquid now head to their match with CLG tomorrow, when the pre-season favorites look to take down the rising stars on day 3 of Lock LCS Tournaments. Meanwhile, EG’s day isn’t over yet. After an exhilarating first game of the tournament, they will also be looking to take down the exciting new CLG roster in today’s final game, which will kick off at 7:30pm CT.
