EVGA are replacing 3090 cards bricked while playing New World

Closed beta for Amazon MMO New world kicks off early this week. Since the MMO won’t happen, there are some initial hiccups, though not the ones you’d normally expect. Many players have reported that their graphics card is overheating or dying while playing in beta, especially EVGA’s many Nvidia RTX 3090 cards. Amazon quickly released a patch to alleviate concerns about in-game frame rates. EVGA has also now confirmed that it will replace the affected GPUs.
In a statement to PC Gamer, EVGA said (perhaps a bit nonspecifically) that “Yes, all defective 3090s are being replaced.” According to PC Gamer, “there is now a specific ‘New World’ category when it comes to the reason for the return of the faulty graphics card.”
EVGA is said to have made a similar statement to tech YouTuber “JayzTwoCents”. In a video test New World with RTX 3090 . GPUJay said that an EVGA member told him that players with affected GPUs were “receiving their replacement cards,” stating that shipping has begun for replacements.
In one went live yesterday, EVGA also said, “For those affected by this, we have worked directly with those customers. We have cards to ship to them. Yes, we have spare cards to replace. It’s completely covered by warranty. Whatever happens to your card, as long as it’s not physical damage.”
Neither Amazon nor EVGA are clear on what matters actually To be. EVGA’s RTX 3090 cards seem to be the most mentioned bug from players, although other series and model cards are reported to suffer from overheating. It is possible that neither of them really know where the error lies until more players report the card error.
Amazon’s Latest updates on the issue says “We’ve rolled out an update to reduce GPU load in the menu screen by clamping FPS – this doesn’t affect the in-game world settings available through the Settings/Video menu. ”
As for the game itself, still in closed beta before its official launch in August, Ed’s New World Preview said it surprised him. In a good way, really.
