There’s nothing quite like a good crime thriller – and crime fans are in luck as ITV is gearing up to air a brand new special from Midsomer Murdersominously titled The Scarecrow Murders.

What is the special episode about?

The Scarecrow Murders The annual Midsomer Scarecrow Festival will take a somber turn after dead bodies appear on poles next to their replica hay.

After the investigation uncovers deep rivalries, it quickly becomes apparent that some people will do almost anything to get what they want.

Is there a trailer

An official trailer for the episode has not been released by ITV – but an exclusive first look has been shared by radio times.

The clip shows Barnaby and Winter showing up at the village’s annual scarecrow festival and the crime scene as they investigate the death of the festival’s organizer.

Forensic expert Fleur Perkins is a bit startled by the body and says: “Scarecrows. I can deal with the deceased – they are endlessly fascinating. But I don’t make straw.”

Who is in the cast?

Returning as DCI John Barnaby is Neil Dudgeon, whom you’ll likely recognize from his roles in things like The Life of Riley, The Nativity, Roman’s Empire and Sorted. Alongside him, who reprises his role as DS Jamie Winter, is Nick Hendrix (The crownmarcella).

Fiona Dolman (The invoiceThe royal today) also returns as John’s wife, Sarah Barnaby, as well Annette Badland (Teddy Lasso, big boys), who posed as pathologist Dr. Fleur Perkins joined the gang.

Of Badland’s character, Dudgeon said, “The team thought it would be interesting to come up with a character that would challenge Barnaby, someone he would have a more provocative relationship with, and Fleur is doing just that.”

The behind-the-scenes documentary will air Sunday, May 29 at 7 p.m The Scarecrow Murders.

Viewers are taken behind-the-scenes of the filming of Season 23 and taken on a journey down memory lane on a Midsome bus tour that looks back at some of the show’s iconic locations and pays homage to the beautiful (but equally deadly) English countryside that played such an important role in the series.
