Writing in French and English, Ms. Adnan has published about two dozen books, including anthology of poetry dealing with Rimbaud, Che Guevara, Native Americans, Jebusite inhabitants of ancient Jerusalem, and jazz musicians Charles Mingus in their lyrical yet political verses. Her poem is as long as a book “Arab Apocalypse” (1980), combining unusual signs and symbols in a mixture of art and literature, consisting of 59 sections, one for each day the Palestinian refugee camp Tel al-Zaatar was besieged during the Lebanese Civil War.
