Elden Ring Invaders destroy some PC save files

Player vs. player invasions are a staple of FromSoftware games – malicious players can enter your world in games from demons souls to elden ring, resulting in intense, sometimes frustrating, multiplayer moments. But players on PC are losing out due to a new exploit in elden ring. Somehow, intruders in The Lands Between have found a way to corrupt the save files of players they invade on PC, trapping them in an endless death loop.

In the handful Clips we saw of the bug, the invading player will respawn beneath the world, falling to their deaths. When they respawn, they’re still under the world and fall again, receiving the classic “You died” prompt over and over again. Even restarting the game doesn’t fix the problem.

elden ring Publisher Bandai Namco has not commented on the issue at the time of writing, and it’s unclear if a retrospective fix will be possible for players whose save files have already been compromised. We’ve reached out to the editor for comment and will update the post once Bandai Namco responds.

But, Players have discovered a workaround for this issue, although it’s a bit unreliable. Some have had success using Alt + F4 to exit the program before their character dies and then immediately hit the map button once the game reloads. If done correctly and the player is lucky, they will safely teleport to a place of mercy.

The simplest and only reliable solution is for players to regularly back up their saves, although this won’t do players much good if they are already trapped under the world. But for PC gamers who haven’t encountered this error yet, backing up saves is an exercise worth taking up.
