Elden Ring fans debate Berserk . references

If you search Elden Ring and Berserk above social mediayou’ll spot a number of fan tweets discussing the references and if they are indeed references to Berserk or not. Most notably, you can spot characters like The Prisoner in the new trailer and gameplay. And part of Elden Ring Twitter community discussed whether this character is Berserk or refer to The Man in the Iron Mask.

The character looks similar to Griffith when he was imprisoned at the end of the Golden Age. I personally believe that Elden Ring referencing Griffith in Berserk and Man in iron mask.

Before it became a book and movie, The Man in the Iron Mask was actually a real person. He was a prisoner in the Bastille who died in 1703, no one knows his name and why he was held in the first place. That was the beginning of everything and what made him one of the most famous prisoners in French history.

It is important to note that from the very beginning, most anime and manga are inspired by Western works. Compared to now, it was also much more blatant in the ’70s and ’80s. And the Man in the Iron Mask is often mentioned in novels, so there’s no doubt that Berserk was inspired by it.
