Elaine MacNeil, L’Oréal USA Executive, Dies at 72 – WWD

Elaine MacNeil, longtime executive director at Urban Decay and L’Oréal USA, passed away last week at the age of 72.
The cause of death was not disclosed.
MacNeil was most recently the general manager of City in decline, she joined in 2006. During her time with the brand, she was a key part of the team that drove significant growth, staying with the company after being acquired by L’Oréal in 2012. .
“Elaine MacNeil is a wonderful woman and an unsung icon in beauty, beauty Wende Zomnir, founding partner of Urban Decay, said. “She has been loved around the world and will be heartbroken by the many people she has mentored, supported and partnered with.”
Zomnir notes that the two don’t just share common business. “I was fortunate to have two friendships with Elaine.… I watched and learned from the owner when she came to Urban Decay to handle sales,” she said. “Recently, we shared a bond as mothers raising teenage children.”
MacNeil has also served as a consultant for L’Oréal Luxe, the luxury division of L’Oréal USA.
