Edmonton Oilers empty-handed against Golden Knights – Edmonton

Laurent Brossoit made 28 saves for the third game of his career as the Vegas Golden Knights beat the Edmonton Oilers 4-0 Tuesday night at Rogers Place.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins said after the game: “We made bigger mistakes and they capitalized on those mistakes.

The Golden Knights took the lead in the first half when Brett Howden escaped down the left and beat Edmonton goalkeeper Mike Smith by five holes.

In an Oilers power game late in the first game, Vegas forward Reilly Smith blocked Edmonton defender Tyson Barrie’s shot on target and broke two-to-one serve against William Karlsson. Smith passed on to Karlsson, who buried his seventh.

“It’s something we know we need to take care of, and we’re working on it,” Nugent-Hopkins says of allowing goals to be achieved in a rush. “The first two are basically two breakaways or two in the air, and that’s been tough for Smitty.”

“Those odd men come from a lack of execution,” says Zach Hyman. “I think we were a bit sloppy in that sense. That’s how you give up a breakaway”.

“Part of it is Vegas; They hit you hard,” Oilers coach Dave Tippett said of the opponent.

“They are a difficult team to test. You have to be sure with puck. Time and space will be at a premium, and you have to be able to perform at that level, and we didn’t do that enough tonight. “

Smith added a 14-second Vegas lead into the third installment.
