Dying Light 2 practice preview

After a somewhat tumultuous period of development that included several delays, employee departures, and a pandemic, Dying Light 2 almost above us. Launched in February 2022, the game is the sequel of 2015 Dying light and take the beloved Parkour/Zombie recipe from the first game to the next generation.

Before it’s coming out, I was lucky enough to get the title and after about four to five hours of play I can safely say there is a lot to be excited about.

When the title was revealed during the Xbox Showcase at E3 2018, Techland invoicing Dying Light 2 as “The most ambitious game yet“And after having some playing time with it, that is almost certainly not an exaggeration.

Obviously the deposit will be higher in Dying Light 2, as seen in many of the promotional videos we’ve received over the past few years, however, I wasn’t really prepared for how much things have changed since the first game.

The first game is, in the simplest terms, a quest for information and cures. Dying Light 2 on the other hand feel like more than that. With humanity currently on the verge of extinction, there is a struggle for power, control, morality, and ultimately survival.

Set 15 years after the original, the world of Dying Light 2 There is a marked difference in both picture and sound. In the preview, lead game designer Tymon Smektała said that humanity has receded into the middle ages or what he calls the “modern dark ages” and it’s hard to argue with this assessment.

While the recession has clearly not brought humanity back to the 15th century, with UV lights, vehicles and technology a stark reminder of a bygone era, the psychology and nature of people survived does not seem too far away from their Medieval brethren. .

In Dying Light 2, Resources are scarce and allies are also scarcer. This means that each class in the game must be wary of outsiders and the threats they may pose. Unfortunately, as “pilgrim” you have the hard job of siding with as many of these factions as possible while dealing minimal enemies. You’ll quickly realize that’s not always possible.

One of the biggest selling points of Dying light is fast-paced parkour action and while it needs a bit of tweaking before launch, it’s clear that much of the world has been designed with this in mind.

I just enjoyed getting into the first part of the demo around the point where the game’s selection and consequences system was demonstrated at E3 2018. This meant I had to play the infamous water tower quest of the game.

However, before that, I was free Dying Light 2’s city, a city that was clearly created with the freedom of the player in mind.

No matter where I go, there’s always something, be it an infection, faction, side quest or something else. While that’s not particularly common in today’s open world, what sets this one apart from so many others is the verticality.

One of the biggest selling points of Dying light is fast-paced parkour action and while it needs a bit of tweaking before launch, it’s clear that much of the world has been designed with this in mind.

Roofs act as caching servers, an open window at the top of a building can be a goldmine of crafting materials, and a ledge or windowsill trying to survive after your infected attack. Obviously a lot of thought has gone into it all.

It should also be noted that I was only able to play part of the first region and a small portion of the latter. This means there are likely to be more crazy world designs, especially when you consider that the game contains a grappling hook and coaster, the latter of which I got some time playing in the sequel. back of the demo .

While I won’t go into too much detail about the water tower quest, I will mention how important your choice is. After climbing to the top of the tower, you are faced with a pair of antagonists and you can choose to free them or spare them.

After you make a decision, the water tower will fall into the hands of survivors or peacekeepers. These are the two core factions that everything boils down to in the game, with each having a significant impact on how the city is built.

Described by the developers as “creative” and “brutal”, Dying Light 2’s Combat is exactly what you would expect.

If you side with the survivors, the city becomes more of a playground for you, with this faction adding zippers and other more parkour-friendly gear for you. The peacekeepers, on the other hand, plan to do exactly that, posing traps and other dangers to those infected.

With the massive city divided into countless different areas, you can really begin to shape it and the story however you choose.

Along with parkour, combat is one of the key components of the original Dying light and it’s all set to return in the sequel.

Described by the developers as “creative” and “brutal”, Dying Light 2’s Combat is exactly what you would expect. Dropkicks, modified weapons, and a variety of different special moves are available on the game’s skill tree. Again, I’m limited in what I can use, but there’s more than enough potential for some seriously infected killer hijinks.

In my short session, there were many times when I set up a chain reaction when infected with a flame, or I could drop a human from a bridge and that’s all this game is about. – Hilarious chaotic action in an otherwise scary setting.

Now, no matter what time, you cannot rest assured.

Like the frenzied battle, the day/night cycle returns from the original game, with the infected becoming more active and more deadly at night. However, while the night is always the scariest time in Dying light, feel so dangerous today.

Of course, running around in the dark was scary, but as humanity became more desperate, the struggle became more apparent. Dangerous factions patrol the streets, guard their yards, and battle anyone who dares to step foot near them. Now, no matter what time, you cannot rest assured.

With a release schedule in early 2022, Dying Light 2 May be facing a bit of a tough time. It’s competing with things like Horizon Forbidden West, Elden Ring and much more.

That being said, from what I got to play, there’s a really fun world, heart-pounding encounters and a deep story and mechanics that will be engaging. Dying light fans, both new and old.
