Dying Light 2 PC will need an RTX 3080 for ray tracing

Are you looking forward to walking around the streets full of zombies in Dying Light 2 on PC next year? Well, hopefully you have a powerful rig if you want to play at the top settings.

Techland recently shared the PC system requirements to play Dying Light 2 about the various settings in an earlier press release. Since this title includes ray tracing, we expected the higher components needed to experience those images. But before you get there, let’s start with the minimum requirements targeting 1080p at 30fps and ray tracing disabled.

Minimum System Requirements (Ray Tracing Off) *:

  • CPU: Intel® Core™ i3-9100 or AMD Ryzen™ 3 2300X
  • RAM: 8GB
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce® GTX 1050 Ti or AMD Radeon™ RX 560 (4GB VRAM)
  • Operating System: Windows 7
  • Available storage space: 60GB HDD

Here are the recommended requirements, again with ray tracing and 1080p targeting at 30fps.

Recommended System Specifications (Ray Tracing Off) **:

  • CPU: Intel® Core™ i5-8600K or AMD Ryzen™ 5 3600X
  • RAM: 16GB
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce® RTX 2060 6GB or AMD Radeon™ RX Vega 56 8GB
  • Operating System: Windows 10
  • Available storage space: 60GB SSD

And now we come to the ray tracing requirements. This is targeting ray tracing but at 1080p and 30fps.

Ray tracing is based on minimum system requirements ***:

  • CPU: Intel® Core™ i5-8600K or AMD Ryzen™ 5 3600X
  • RAM: 16GB
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce® RTX 2070 8GB
  • Operating System: Windows 10
  • Available storage space: 60GB SSD

Finally, here are the recommended ray tracing requirements. Again, this only targets 1080p, but 60fps.

Ray tracing based on recommended system requirements****:

  • CPU: Intel® Core™ i5-8600K or AMD Ryzen™ 7 3700X
  • RAM: 16GB
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce® RTX 3080 10GB
  • Operating System: Windows 10
  • Available storage space: 60GB SD

However, and this is extremely important to note, we know Dying Light 2 will also include Nvidia’s DLSS – their machine learning image reconstruction technology. These system requirements can therefore be great for enabling ray tracing, but do not have DLSS is also enabled. So yes, an RTX 3080 for ray tracing at 1080p 60 fps seems very difficult. But you’ll be playing with DLSS enabled at a higher output resolution anyway.
