Driver charged after collision causes power outage, Severn Township – Barrie motorway closure

An Ajax driver has been charged after a multi-vehicle collision caused a power outage and highway closure in Severn Township, Ontario, police say.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said shortly after 12:30 a.m. Monday officers received a report of a multi-vehicle collision in the lanes of northbound Highway 11 off Goldstein Road.

Police said one vehicle drove into a water pole and another into a guardrail.

Officials said Hydro One was called to the scene to assess the damage and safety concerns.

According to police, road crews were repairing damage to the guardrail and the motorway was closed for a “brief period” while Hydro One restored power and repaired damage.
