Dolly Parton has developed a movie adaptation of the book ‘Run, Rose, Run’ that came out two weeks ago

Country music queen Dolly Parton will return to the big screen in the film adaptation of the novel she co-wrote with James Patterson, Run, Rose, Run. It’s an amazingly quick turnaround as the book just came out on March 7, but we wouldn’t expect much more from the woman behind the final hustle song “9 to 5”.

Along with Parton and Patterson, Reese Witherspoon is set to produce the film under her Hello Sunshine banner. A very successful Southerner like Parton, Witherspoon is adding Run, Rose, Run for her impressive list of highly anticipated upcoming projects from Hello Sunshine, including adaptations of best-selling novels. Where the Crawdads sing and Daisy Jones and Six. Parton will also star in the film.

Run, Rose, Run tells the story of an aspiring country star who moves to Nashville to pursue her dream of breaking into music, while a dark secret haunts her and threatens to derail her plans. When it debuted, it won number one on New York Times best seller list. Parton also released a companion album of the same name and a “bookcast” of the novel’s version on Spotify, which is essentially an audiobook interspersed with Parton musical performances. Witherspoon has released a statement about collaborating with iconic singer “Jolene.”
