Dolly Parton, Eminem, A Tribe Called Quest, and more

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame announced nominees for its 2022 tier on Wednesday, and as usual, it’s a pretty eclectic lineup. Likely to enter this year are first-time nominees Dolly Parton, A Tribe Called Quest and Beck.

Eminem was also nominated in his first year of eligibility. The rules state that an artist or band can get a spot on the ballot no earlier than 25 years after the release of their first commercial record (and Em’s debut album actually came out). in 1996 – feels old yet?). Lionel Richie, Carly Simon and Duran Duran have shortlisted the nominees for the first time.

Meanwhile, British experimental pop artist Kate Bush once again made the list after being nominated twice before. She’s back on the list alongside previous nominees Rage Against the Machine, Devo, Dionne Warwick, Pat Benatar, Fela Kuti, New York Dolls, MC5, Judas Priest and Eurythmics.

A group of more than 1,000 artists, historians and music industry experts vote to see who will actually be inducted into the sacred hall of rock music out of 17 nominees. Participants will be announced in May, with the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inducting ceremony taking place this fall.
