Warning: Spoilers for ‘Doctor Who: Flux Chapter Five‘ Just arrived.
Which doctor? Fans are losing it on social media as a long-loved character that has been seen on screen makes a spectacular return in the latest episode of the show. Season 13, a multi-part epic with subtitles Flush, reached penultimate place this Sunday. Called “Chapter Five: Survivors of the Flow,” it added another theme to the intricate, interconnected plot that reintroduced the alien-hunting organization UNIT – along with The head is Kate Stewart (Jemma Redgrave).
This was a big deal as UNIT was previously revealed to be retired in 2019. Since then, fans have wondered what happened to the longstanding organization that was part of the series. Who Legend since the 60’s.
In this episode, we finally discovered the truth. Time-traveling villain Grand Serpent was revealed to have been manipulating UNIT behind the scenes for decades, sending himself to a place of power he could shut down in 2017, setting the his allies the Sontarans to invade Earth unhindered.
The only one standing in the way of the Serpent is Kate, the daughter of classical Who character Brigadier General Lethbridge-Stewart. In an epic scene that showcases her wits and strength, Kate stands up to the evil alien and proves to him that she won’t be pushed around.
And fans are raving about it on Twitter.
After standing up to the villain, fans fear for Kate’s safety – especially after the Serpent blows up her house. Thankfully, Kate has revealed to co-star Osgood (another fan favorite of hers, though sadly they didn’t show up) that she’s “going to be dark”, explaining why she not seen in the Jodie Whittaker era.
The next trailer promises that Kate will return for the season’s finale, so she’ll share some scenes with the Thirteenth Doctor. That would bring Kate up to five Doctors she stars in, following David Tennant, Matt Smith, Peter Capaldi and John Hurt.
