Disney Plus superhero comedy in production

When it comes Disney Plus, the streaming service is certainly not holding back from recruiting top talent for their upcoming shows and movies.

We are currently receiving news that the platform has cast several stars for a superhero comedy called Especially, filming begins on Wednesday, Deadline report.

Featured on this list is Máréad Tyers, star of Kenneth Branagh .’s upcoming film Belfast, who will star in the series. Poldark’s Sofia Oxenham and Derry Girls’ Siobhán McSweeney also plays the lead role.

Production begins Wednesday for the irreverent eight-part comedy.

Tyers will play Jen, a young and painfully self-conscious woman living in a world where everyone has superpowers except her. Oxenham will play Jen’s best friend Carrie and McSweeney will play Jen’s mother. Rising stars Bilal Hasna and Luke Rollason, as well as Sourceby Safia Oakley-Green, and GrabRobbie Gee will also star in the show.

The show represents one of the first British originals announced for Disney Plus, along with Ballad by Renegade Nell and Wedding season.

Especially is orbiting London and is written by debut writer Emma Moran.

We’re opening up to a hilarious superhero comedy that’s an everyday occurrence, with an outcast removed from what’s supposed to be normal, even if the premise sounds a bit off. familiar with Disney movies Encanto. However, given the fact that there are so many superhero series with a “realism” angle that continues to be fresh, such as everything from The guard come The Incredibles and Boys, we are confident Disney Plus premised with dry British wit that certainly has the potential to bring in giggles.
