Disney Plus will receive an even larger investment from the parent company in 2022, several billion dollars. The announcement that the budget for Disney Plus will be increased by eight billion dollars was disclosed as part of a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

That new investment is an increase over what was already a sizable investment in Disney Plus “Mouse House” streaming service. The company has invested 25 billion in 2021 when launching some stream series like that Hawk Eye while bringing several projects from the big screen to people’s homes.

The filing isn’t just about how much money Disney plans to pour into its streaming efforts. The company also made it clear that it plans to launch 50 different movies by 2022. Those movies will hit theaters and on the streaming service and will be spread across Lucasfilm, Marvel Studios, Pixar, 20th Century Studios and Walt Disney Pictures. Disney Plus will also get 60 series with no description, 30 comedy series, and 25 drama series along with lines like Books by Boba Fett, maybe there will be a part 2 next year. The company is also planning a number of limited series, animations, and TV series, all of which will premiere in 2022.

While a number of projects have been announced, it seems from this announcement that there are still some projects that have yet to be officially revealed. Some of the known projects include Mandalorian season 3, a new one Obi-Wan Kenobi series and a series of other Marvel superheroes in Ms. Marvel. There are quite a few Marvel-based series also in the planning stages for next year, including She is heavy and Marvel Zombies. While quite a few plans for Disney Plus were announced earlier in November as part of Disney Plus Day, it’s clear the company hasn’t left things out of the bag.

It looks like some of those plans could change as the calendar moves closer to 2022. There are reports that at least one series originally planned for 2022 could be pushed to 2023.

New rumors suggest that Star Wars: Ahsoka was originally planned for 2022 but will be delayed for at least another year. However, there is no official announcement about that score when it comes to Disney Plus, so there’s still a chance the series will come out next year.
