Detective Pikachu 2 could be nearing the end of its development

After three years of radio silence regarding the Detective Pikachu sequel, a new discovery suggests the Pokemon spinoff is almost ready for release.

It is said on the street that the continuation of the Detective Pikachu Video game is nearing completion of development. Pokemon Fans will be surprised by this news, because although it is a new one Detective Pikachu Game for the Nintendo Switch was announced three years ago, and since then practically nothing has been said about it. One might think it was quietly cancelled, but it wasn’t. Obviously it still exists, and it sounds like it might be coming soon.

Not to be confused with the 2019 live-action film adaptation starring Ryan Reynolds. Detective Pikachu was released in Japan for the Nintendo 3DS in 2016 before a worldwide release two years later. The game’s plot is largely identical to that of the film and follows a young man named Tim as he searches for his missing father with the help of a talking Pikachu, although the game has more puzzles to solve as players interact with the humans and Pokémon interact inhabiting Ryme City.

Fans have been patiently awaiting definitive news about the sequel, and it looks like they finally have it. Famiboards users this week spotted a comment from the LinkedIn page of Jonathan Murphy, a contributor to Detective Pikachu Developer Creatures Inc., mentioning an unannounced project he’s been working on, as well as “a soon-to-be-released, Detective Pikachu 2.”

Ultimately, it’s a small status update, but it’s the biggest the game has received since it was announced in 2019. The radio silence is particularly surprising considering Nintendo hasn’t teased or financially mentioned the game in any official reports, and it has for elusive titles like Metroid Prime 4. On the other hand, Nintendo is increasingly inclined to reveal games just a few months before their release Metroid horror, Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopesand Mario Strikers: Battle League are just a few recent examples. Chances are it plans to do the same for Detective Pikachu 2.

However, Nintendo fans are also no stranger to long waits and long periods of silence, as are those who wanted to play The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Metroid Prime 4, bayonet 3and Pikmin 4 can attest. What’s the wait Detective Pikachu 2 What is frustrating about details, however, is that unlike the film, the first game ended without concluding its story, leaving fans wondering how the story of Tintin and Pikachu might end. With any luck, they won’t have to wait much longer to find out.

That Detective Pikachu A sequel for Nintendo Switch is in development.
