NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Demonstrators took to New York Metropolis’s streets Saturday demanding extra assets to rescue Afghans nonetheless trapped in Afghanistan.

Zahra from Morris County, New Jersey, waved her flag excessive and proud as she joined dozens who took to the steps of the New York Public Library at Bryant Park on Saturday afternoon.

“We hear their cries. We hear their anger. We really feel their worry. We are actually helpless. We can not do something,” Zahra instructed CBS2’s Thalia Perez.

Behind tears, Zahra’s mother, Nora Alemi, shared with CBS2 that she fears retaliation by the Taliban for even talking out on behalf of her aunts and cousins in Kabul, whom she is determined to securely assist get overseas.

“Please save Afghanistan, please,” Alemi stated.

Alemi additionally stated that she and her husband are refugees who fled the Soviet invasion in 1989, abandoning scores of family members.

When she and her daughter final spoke with relations, they instructed her they feared for his or her lives.

“Their salaries aren’t coming in. They don’t have any cash to even get water, to get meals. Their jobs are closed,” Zahra stated.
