Dead Space Remake Won’t Have Microtransactions

Dead space redoPhil Ducharme senior producer told IGN that Electronic Arts will not repeat the “mistakes” made in the past by the series, including the addition of microtransactions.

Dead Space 3 introduced microtransactions to the game’s weapon crafting system, much to the dismay of players. Rest assured, EA Motive will “never” add microtransactions to the upcoming title.

“We’re looking at what can be done and put into the first game from a future standpoint,” Ducharme said. “We’re also learning from mistakes like microtransactions, which we wouldn’t make in our game, for example.”

Elsewhere in the interview, EA Motive’s Roman Campos Oriola spoke about the team’s approach to Dead space remake and based on the original releases.

“For us, the foundation is Dead Space 1 story. So by default it’s canon, but then there are some improvements that we want to make to that story,” Oriola told IGN. “And not necessarily improvements because those things didn’t really work in the original, more improvements because of what happened after that and we said, ‘Oh man, that would be interesting if we could take part in it. refer to that or if we can link that.'”

Dead space the remake will also introduce accessibility options suitable for modern games. Oriola pointed out that these elements were virtually unheard of 12 years ago and will expand the franchise to a wider audience starting with the remake.

Dead space date has not yet been determined. Expected to release in 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
