Dead by Daylight releases update 6.3.0 for the Halloween event

Ahead of the annual Halloween event, Behavior Interactive is releasing update 6.3.0 for Dead by Daylight, bringing a new tome and rewards to the game.

Dead by daylight has released Update 6.3.0 across all platforms, bringing new content to celebrate the Halloween season. This time of year is usually a time for fiendish delights for all to partake in, and Dead by daylight does not fall short.

In keeping with the season, players were given a new limited-time Halloween event to enjoy. Titled Haunted by Daylight, players are treated to a terrifying amount of content, including new daily rewards to collect and earn. Later in the month there will be a Twitch stream from developer Behavior Interactive, a free play weekend, new merchandise and lots of like-new store content Resident Evil 5 inspired skin for Albert Wesker, a Dead by daylight Killers called The Mastermind.

The Haunted by Daylight portion of Update 6.3.0 runs from October 13th to November 3rd and brings two new tomes to the Archives. The first of these is Tome 13, titled Malevolence, which will feature the stories of The Ghost Face Killer and survivor Mikaela Reid. As with previous numbered tomes, there are challenges for players to complete in order to earn additional bloodpoints and new lore entries from The Observer. Contrary to popular belief, Ghost Face is an original creation for the game and is not the same character as Ghost Face from the Scream movies. The second tome, the event-exclusive Haunted by Daylight Tome 13.5, will be available for players to unlock special cosmetics until November 3rd.

Update 6.3.0 comes just days after Behavior Interactive confirmed the Halloween event for Dead by daylight. In addition to the content, the update included changes to the game quality. Trials, the in-game term for matches, will now be forced to end in either five minutes after triggering the “End Game Collapse” or after one hour of play, whichever comes first. Characters who reached level 50 and had Prestige Rank 0, 1, or 2 will receive two additional Prestige levels to catch up. The Archive also has an improved layout and a change in how challenges are handled between games. Players can now select two archive challenges at once: one for killers, one for survivors, or two universal challenges. This was done to avoid going back to the archives to reactivate challenges after switching roles.

In addition, the update made a notable change to the Dead by daylight Toolbox for survivors in the form of the flashlight. As of 6.3.0, the flashlight’s click speed has been slowed down and its sound effect adjusted accordingly. As a result, using flashlights now has a slight delay to reduce flash effects. This change is part of an effort to reduce the risk of flashbulb attacks. A note from the official forums states that flashlight aiming angle issues are still under investigation. The patch also includes bug fixes for gameplay issues, issues specific to the Xbox One and Steam versions, and some fixes for pending issues that impacted The Mastermind.

Dead by daylight is available on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
