DC Starts A New Epic By Killing Wonder Woman’s Mother

Trial of the Amazons is the first DC crossover to launch Wonder Woman since the 1990s, and it’s making up for lost time with the ending of the first number. Get your screaming emoji ready: Wonder Woman’s mother, former queen of the Amazons, Lady Hippolyta, has [dramatic reverb] POISON!

Now, the new queen of Themyscira, Nubia, must not only keep a lid on peace in the face of simmering tensions between the three Amazon-dom tribes – the philosophical Themyscirans, the warlike Bana-Mighdall and the enigmatic Esquecidas – and Lead them through a three-way championship to see who is worthy to guard the door to the underworld… she must solve Hippolyta’s murder at the same time!

Talk about at the trial.

What else is happening in the pages of our favorite comics? We will let you know. Welcome to Funnies Monday, Polygon’s weekly list of the books our comics editors loved over the past week. It’s the social pages of superheroes’ lives, the reading recommendations section, the “look at this amazing piece of work”. There may be some damage. There may not be enough context. Words may (including mine) have been spread about how having a son expands the potential of Superman stories, but less about what it does, in the narrative, for Lois Lane . So I just want to say I absolutely enjoy a world where Lois Lane hears some screams from her teenage son’s bedroom and just kicks in the door with crocs and a gun. The laser is fully charged.

Another thing that I thoroughly enjoyed: In the new Captain Carter series, the first thing that happens after she is freed from the ice is that Russia, the US, and the UK have a turf war over who will take her. he returned to their country.
